AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS RECAP
Justin Bieber won favorite male artist and favorite album in the Pop/Rock category, signifying the official death of rock ‘n roll. The death was prematurely pronounced by Lenny Kravitz, who made the proclamation in a passable song released in 1995, aptly titled, “Rock ‘N Roll Is Dead.”
Muse won best Alternative Rock Artist, which is appropriate, because when I’m too lazy to scroll all the way down to “R” in my iTunes music library, I can usually will myself at least to “M” for some derivative, variation-on-a-theme opuses from Muse, so, yes - Muse is an alternative to the best rock artist - Radiohead. Cheers, mates.
Shakira won best Latin artist. Honestly, I didn’t know she was still making music but would have nominated her for best mid-late ’90s latin music video that once gave me wood.
Usher won favorite male artist in the category of Soul/Rhythm & Blues, and simultaneously caused me to lose my bet on which actors from the principal cast of “She’s All That” would still be working in 2010. Who knew?
